Which forms are there?

• Interim specialist: someone temporarily takes over a role, including responsibilities and mandate. Logical for cover or when something needs to change in your organisation.

What to look out for

• Make the assignment concrete: what must be finished or improved at the end? The more concrete, the better the match.
• Arrange access up front: accounts, tools and people. A specialist waiting a week for logins costs money.
• Plan the handover from the start: temporary means someone will leave. Make sure work, knowledge and accounts stay yours.
• Be honest about duration: if you expect a temporary job to last longer, interim or recruitment is the better choice from the start.
