E-commerce
Shopify is a hosted e-commerce platform: you rent the store software, hosting, security and checkout for a monthly fee plus transaction costs.
You avoid updates, servers and PCI compliance. In return you get less freedom in checkout and depend on apps for extra functionality.
It is strong on launch speed and international selling. Complex B2B pricing or deep ERP integrations hit limits sooner.
Tip
Total your app costs monthly and check you still use each one. That keeps a grip on costs that otherwise creep up quietly.
