SEO and AI visibility
GEO stands for generative engine optimization: working on the chance that AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity name your company on their own in an answer.
Where SEO targets a position in a list, GEO targets a mention inside a generated answer. There is no ranking to check: you are named or you aren't, and it varies per question and per tool.
What helps is largely familiar: pages that answer a question fully and independently, facts that can be verified, consistent company data, and sources outside your own site saying the same thing. You measure it by asking your key questions in several AI tools on a schedule and noting who gets named.
In practice
GEO doesn't replace SEO. AI answers still lean heavily on pages that also perform well organically.
