Content and brand

Reels are the short vertical videos on Instagram and Facebook, distributed mainly by interest rather than by who follows you.

A Reel is vertical (9:16), short, and shown in its own tab as well as in the feed. The distribution model is the main difference from a regular post: Instagram also shows a Reel to people who don't follow you when early viewer behaviour justifies it. That lets a small account still reach a wide audience.

In practice the first seconds decide everything: how many keep watching, how many rewatch, how many share or save. Views alone say little; saves and shares say more about whether the content lands.

Trial reels let you show a Reel to non-followers only, review the numbers, and share it with your followers afterwards. That makes testing hooks and topics possible without filling your profile with failed attempts.

Tip

Use the very first second to make clear what the Reel is about. That way you keep most viewers watching before the content even really starts.
