Website and technology
Load time is how long before a visitor can see and use your page — not how fast the server responds.
Measure what the visitor experiences: when the largest element appears (LCP) and when the page responds to a tap. Server response is only one link.
The biggest wins are usually images, fonts, third-party scripts and tracking tags — the same things marketing keeps adding.
In practice
Testing on a fast laptop with fibre flatters the result. Measure mobile, on 4G, with real user data.
