SEO and AI visibility

Share of Local Voice is your share of local visibility: in what portion of searches across an area you show up in the local results or map pack.

You measure it by splitting an area into a grid of points and checking, per point, whether you appear in the local top three. The share of points where you are visible is your Share of Local Voice.

Unlike an average ranking, local visibility differs street by street. You can rank first downtown and be invisible three kilometres away; one average position hides that.

It matters when customers come from nearby: a shop, practice, garage, restaurant or a service business with a service area. A rising SoLV means more people in that area see you, even if national rankings stay flat.

Drivers: distance to the searcher, how complete and current your business profile is, reviews, and how much of your site genuinely covers that place and service.

Tip

Visibility is not revenue. Always track what follows: direction requests, calls and enquiries. A high SoLV in an area without customers earns nothing.
